Scott Burgess joined David Lawrence Center as the Chief Executive Officer in January 2014. As CEO, he works closely with the David Lawrence Center Board of Directors and is responsible for the overall management of center operations and development. He provides administrative, clinical and financial direction to the Executive Management Team at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
Burgess comes to DLC after an illustrious 21-year career with Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health, an arm of Alexian Brothers Health System a large multi-hospital healthcare network, in Arlington Heights, Illinois. He began working for the mental health center as an entry level vocational counselor where he progressed to Executive Director, a position he held for five years. During his tenure with the organization he also served as the Manager of Aftercare Services, Director of Program Services and Director of Research. As such, he is a proven clinician with experience working with children, adolescent and adult populations and is a highly recognized supervisor, manager and leader with deep knowledge of community mental health and integrated healthcare.
Burgess earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Illinois State University; his Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology from Concordia University; a certification in Clinical Research Trials from the University of Chicago; and in 2016 attended Harvard Business School's Executive Education program. He is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).
Passionate about effective policy for those struggling with mental illness, Burgess co-authored legislation that became law in Illinois to develop its first ever five year statewide mental health strategic plan (2013-2018). Recognized as a leader in mental health treatment, he was appointed as a member of the Governor's Task Force to develop the state road map for improved care which was completed and ratified in early 2013.
Burgess currently serves as the Chair of Circuit 20 Regional Council for the Central Florida Behavioral Health Network, a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the Florida Council for Behavioral Health, Co-chair of the Engagement Committee for Healthways Blue Zones Project and Board Member for the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to his professional interests, Burgess enjoys sending time with his wife and three children and volunteering as a youth coach and at church.
Nancy Dauphinais currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer. In this role, she oversees all clinical programming and leads efforts, in great partnership with the Center's senior Clinical Directors, toward further advancement of evidence-based care. She also works to advance opportunities associated with expanding clinical services as well as enhancing continuity across the Center's care system. In addition to these responsibilities, Nancy serves as the Clinical Director to the Crossroads substance abuse continuum and supervises Quality Improvement, Organizational Performance and Information Technology.
Dauphinais began her career with the David Lawrence Center in 2005 as a Behavioral Health Technician in Acute Care Services. She was quickly promoted to an Emergency Services Clinician where she screened, assessed and triaged clients in crisis. She was later promoted to Crossroads Clinical Supervisor and then Crossroads Clinical Director before being assuming the additional roles of her current executive management position. As the Crossroads Clinical Director, Nancy provides clinical oversight to Adult Detoxification, Residential Rehab, Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient and After Care Services, and manages the fiduciary and administrative functions of the substance abuse continuum. As a member of the David Lawrence Center speaker's bureau, Nancy routinely provides educational presentations on a variety of mental health and substance abuse topics.
Due to her outstanding performance, professionalism and commitment to clients, Nancy was honored with the 2010 Direct Service Provider of the Year Award, the 2012 Leadership Award, the 2014 Employee of the Year Award and the 2014 Administrator of the Year.
Dauphinais earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Duke University where she graduated magna cum laude and her Master's Degree in Counseling from Florida Gulf Coast University where she also graduated with honors. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Master's Level Certified Addiction Professional and a Qualified Supervisor in the state of Florida.
Dauphinais is an active member of the NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals, Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association, American Mental Health Counselors Association and Gulf Coast Mental Health Counselors, Inc.
Rob Wilkinson previously worked in several positions in the finance department at DLC, demonstrating seven years of outstanding performance. He joined DLC as a staff accountant in 2012 and was recognized for his exemplary work ethic by receiving an Outstanding Team Player Award in 2013. In 2015, Wilkinson was promoted to accounting supervisor and was named Employee of the Year. His last role with the organization was being named director of accounting in 2016. Additionally, Wilkinson served as a volunteer at the Annual Gala and regularly attended Young Executive, now known as DLC Advocates, events.
Rob left to pursue an MBA and begin his own financial and business intelligence consulting independent practice. Most recently, he assisted DLC as an independent consultant to support the finance department with onboarding new staff members.
Prior to joining DLC, Wilkinson worked as a bookkeeper for a private hanger at Southwest Florida International Airport and several small companies in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from Florida International University.
Mary Ann Guerra has over 35 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse and a behavioral health administrative and clinical expert in various treatment settings, including hospitals, inpatient, residential, and outpatient services. She joined DLC in 1993 and has served in numerous leadership roles during her tenure, including Director of Acute Care Services, Director of Nursing Services, Infection Control Officer, Director of Quality Improvement and Organizational Performance (QI), and most recently, as a QI Consultant. Before joining DLC, she was the Nurse Manager of Psychiatric Services at Victoria Hospital Partnership in Miami, Florida.
As Chief Clinical Officer, Mary Ann oversees the Clinical Directors who manage the Acute Care, Crossroads Addiction Recovery, Access and Outpatient Therapy, and Community Services divisions.
Mary Ann earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing with a minor in psychology from the University of Miami. She is affiliated with the American Nurses Association, Florida Nurses Association, and Collier Nursing Association. She is also fluent in Spanish.
