Job Summary: This is a unique role contributing to the overall health of both DLC as an organization and our highly-valued Clients. This Nursing Leadership role serves as the Infection Prevention and Control Officer, providing an opportunity for a qualified and dedicated Registered Nurse to apply a broad range of skills in policy development, procedure monitoring, and program operations support. It is a strongly collaborative position; a compassionate and detail-oriented approach is essential in maintaining regulatory compliance and supporting organizational efforts to create a safe and healthy environment for Clients, Visitors, and Staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Jointly serves as Infection Prevention & Control Officer and Health & Wellness Nurse.
- Leads initiatives for Staff and Clients with a high level of internal customer service.
- Completes TB Screening, TB testing, TB follow up and updates for TB policies and trainings.
- Completes Flu injection clinic coordination in partnership with nurse leaders, CCO, and onsite Genoa Pharmacy.
- Completes and oversees Hep B Vaccination program; tracks for annual compliance and provides education as needed.
- Maintains compliant tracking logs, systems, and reports; coordinates with Human Resources, QI, and Supervisors to ensure all TB Testing, Vaccinations and Screenings are up-to-date and according to compliance requirements.
- Serves as CLIA/Lab Coordinator to ensure compliant alignment with policies, procedures and protocols as well as manages organizational fit testing.
- Serves as subject matter expert in adherence to mandatory CDC/DOH/DLC/OSHA guidelines.
- Provides guidance, support and leadership to other Staff Nurses as needed.
- Chairs/Co-Chairs and assists with Nutritional Services and Nurse Focus Group; participates in practitioner and nursing meetings as necessary.
- Assists with creating and updating all policy/procedures and staff training related to Infection Control/Prevention, Health/Wellness, etc.
- Identifies new Joint Commission standards, regulations, and up to date evidence-based standards to ensure continuous compliance and quality improvement.
- Actively participates in developing new policies, workflows, training, and monitoring of new programs and services to broaden the scope of the role when needed.
- Investigates outbreaks and documents Client/Staff interviews, surveillance, interventions, and documents to ensure timely completion of improvement processes.
- Other duties as related to and required by Supervisor and DLC goals.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED = Required
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field from accredited institution = Preferred
- Current State of Florida RN License = Required
- Current State of Florida Driver's License w/ Clear Record = Required
- At least one year of relevant experience (Infection Control/Prevention, Health/Wellness, etc.) = Required
- Staff supervisory, training or leadership experience = Preferred
- Ability to relate to a diverse group of Clients, co-workers and community organizations = Required
- Adaptability to varying and emergency work conditions = Required
- Microsoft Office 365 skills (Including Teams/Video Conferencing) and Electronic Medical Records experience = Strongly Preferred
- Staying compliant on all trainings and immunizations = Required
- Ability to pass Level II DCF Mental Health Fingerprinting, Drug Screen and Local Criminal Check = Required
Physical Requirements: This position requires a mix of physical activities throughout the workday. Duties involve periods of standing, sitting, and walking, often across various areas of the site. The role also includes tasks that may require bending, reaching, and other physical movements. Candidates must be able to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. A reasonable level of physical stamina and mobility is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
