Job Summary: This role is responsible for the overall management of all Acute Care Units while on shift. The House Supervisor provides exceptional service while coordinating and supervising Client, Staff, family and department issues. They also act as a liaison between all stakeholders, while utilizing resources to maximize efficiency and minimize unnecessary costs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing direction to RNs, LPNs, Behavioral Healthcare Technicians, and Clinicians as needed.
- Fulfilling responsibilities in accordance with David Lawrence Center's policies and applicable regulatory agencies.
- Assuming responsibility as designee for administration duties in the absence of Director of Nursing if needed.
- Assisting with staffing as needed in coordinating and maintaining appropriate levels of care/coverage. This includes making decisions and adjustments prior to/during Shifts by consulting with the Director of Nursing.
- Collaborating with Emergency Services Assessment Center (ESAC) and Charge Nurses to assign beds for Acute Care Units and in-house transfers.
- Timely and accurate Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation.
- Completing thorough documentation regarding significant events or problems during shift that includes appropriate resolution and/or follow up.
- Assisting Director of Nursing and Risk Management with incident investigation:
~ This includes Clients, Visitors, Staff and Providers
~ Taking immediate action to resolve issues
~ Completing required follow up documentation and reporting
~ Reporting incidents or potential issues to Risk Management
- Evaluating, identifying, and implementing effective infection control practices/reporting standards.
- Implementing agency standards and policy for use of Special Treatment procedures such as seclusion and restraint.
- Making frequent rounds on all Acute Care Units and being available to assist Staff when needed (with admissions, orders, discharges, etc.)
- Assisting with implementing Baker Act/Marchman Act Standards and protocols.
- Communicating with Director of Nursing regarding long-term and short-term decisions/plans.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
Qualifications:
Required
- BSN or MSN Degree plus completion of an Accredited Nursing Program.
- Current, clear, and unencumbered FL Registered Nurse License.
- Five plus years as an RN in a hospital setting at the level of Charge Nurse or Supervisor.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Experience in the following:
~ Basic principles and treatment techniques related to Mental Health/Substance Use
~ Working with and relating to a wide diversity of Clients, Colleagues and Communities
~ Ability to direct and manage Staff in emergent situations
~ Demonstrating knowledge of policies and procedures related to the area served, including internal and external standards.
- Microsoft Office 365 skills (Including Teams/Video Conferencing) and Electronic Medical Records experience.
- Staying compliant on all trainings, immunizations, and policy/procedure updates.
- Ability to pass Level II DCF Mental Health Fingerprinting (General Information can be found HERE), Drug Screen and Local Criminal Check.
Strongly Preferred
- Prior experience working in a psychiatric treatment setting
- Bilingual
Physical Requirements: This position requires a mix of physical activities throughout the workday. Duties involve periods of standing, sitting, and walking, often across various areas of the site. The role also includes tasks that may require bending, reaching, and other physical movements. Candidates must be able to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. A reasonable level of physical stamina and mobility is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
