Job Summary:

The Wellness Program Specialist is primarily responsible for delivering engaging, evidence-based prevention and wellness programs to youth, families, and community members. This role also serves as the lead facilitator for evidence-based parenting programs, providing consistent leadership in the delivery of Active Parenting Now and Active Parenting of Teens. This role plays a key part in promoting behavioral health awareness, building coping and life skills, and strengthening community capacity for wellness. Working collaboratively with the DLC Wellness Institute team, the Wellness Program Specialist ensures programming is high-quality, data-informed, and aligned with DLC's vision of a healthier, more resilient community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Facilitation & Service Delivery: Facilitate interactive, evidence-based wellness programs across a variety of settings, including schools, community organizations and virtual platforms. Serve as the lead facilitator for Active Parenting programs, ensuring high-fidelity content delivery, focusing on building skills and strategies that strengthen family relationships and parenting practices.
  • Community Outreach & Representation: Participate in community events, health fairs, and outreach activities to promote Wellness Institute programs and initiatives. Attend court-related meetings and sessions, including truancy court, family court, and other referral-based settings, to support outreach and recruitment for parenting programs in coordination with school and community partners. Represent DLC with professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and a strong commitment to prevention and wellness.
  • This role is essential to advancing the Wellness Institute's mission by delivering impactful programming, fostering community engagement, and supporting a culture of prevention and well-being.
  • Program Support & Initiative Implementation: Support the implementation of the DLC Wellness Institute's core initiatives and community outreach efforts, ensuring consistent delivery and alignment with program goals and target populations.
  • Data Collection & Quality Improvement: Collect, document, and submit attendance, feedback, and outcome data in accordance with evaluation and reporting requirements. Contribute to continuous quality improvement by reviewing data and participant feedback to strengthen program effectiveness. Timely and accurate documentation and reporting within both the DLC and state-operated prevention databases is essential to this role.
  • Collaboration & Team Integration: Work closely with the Supervisor of Wellness Programs to ensure program fidelity and alignment with Institute goals. Collaborate with cross-functional team members to support integrated wellness campaigns and initiatives.
  • Program Development & Adaptation: Assist in the development of new programs, activities, and curriculum adaptations that reflect community needs, cultural responsiveness, and emerging wellness trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral science or a related field = Required
  • Spanish Bilingual = Strongly Preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on event and Program needs = Required
  • At least one year of experience working with children/adolescents in a behavioral healthcare setting = Required
  • Valid, current and clean FL Driver's License for travel = Required
  • Efficient, empathetic and evocative communication skills = Required
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of age groups = Required
  • Comfort with and compassion shown while relating to diverse backgrounds and cultures = Required
  • Dual professional personalities in being able to both work as a team player AND be self-motivated = Required
  • Ability to ensure that all activities are managed according to DLC policies and procedures = Required
  • Microsoft Office 365 skills (Including Teams/Video Conferencing) and Electronic Medical Records experience = Strongly Preferred
  • Staying compliant on all training and immunizations.
  • Ability to pass Level II DCF Mental Health Fingerprinting (General Information can be found HERE), Drug Screen and Local Criminal Check

Physical Requirements:

This position requires a mix of physical activities throughout the workday. Duties involve periods of standing, sitting, and walking, often across various areas of the site. The role also includes tasks that may require bending, reaching, and other physical movements. Candidates must be able to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. A reasonable level of physical stamina and mobility is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
