Job Summary: This role provides advanced direct clinical care while serving in a leadership role supporting medical service delivery, clinical quality, staff development, and implementation of innovative treatment models.
The Lead PMHNP actively partners with the Medical Director, CCO, Nursing Leadership, and Quality Improvement (QI) to advance evidence-based practices, improve access to care, and support strategic initiatives across medical services.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care & Productivity Oversight
- Maintain an active Client caseload in alignment with organizational productivity standards.
- Support and monitor all levels of individual APRN productivity expectations.
- Serve as a preceptor for other PMHNP graduate students.
- Promote JustInTime clinic model, including rotating coverage for all appointment types
(Walk-in, NSNAP appointments, and psychiatric evaluations)
- Support clinical cross training to enhance consistency for all provided services.
(cooccurring/Medication Assisted Treatment, Long-Acting Injectables/post discharge follow-up)
- Utilize productivity dashboards/caseload data to identify trends and areas requiring intervention.
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, manage medications and address co-occurring disorders.
- Apply evidence-based treatments, use screening tools, and assess suicide risk.
- Adhere to safety planning and follow best practices for psychotropic medication management.
- Manage crises, de-escalate, and initiate involuntary examination processes (i.e., Baker Act).
Clinical Leadership & Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Interdisciplinary meetings with Medical Director, Lead Psychiatrist, and Chief Clinical Officer.
- Support strategic planning and evidence-based practice implementation.
- Serve as a leader and resource to APRNs to support consistent standards of program care.
- Initiatives that support innovation, access to care, and system-wide clinical alignment.
Innovative Treatment Implementation
- Work with Medical Director/CCO/Nursing Leadership to support innovative treatment modalities.
- Focus on modalities like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Spravato (esketamine), etc.
- Development of policies, training materials, and workflows for new services.
- Support readiness for service launch and ongoing evaluation of program effectiveness.
Peer Review & Clinical Quality
- Completion of APRN/MD peer reviews working with Leadership and Quality Improvement.
- Support feedback and coaching to help Staff meet/exceed peer review quality benchmarks.
- Utilize peer review data to identify learning needs, system gaps, and improvement opportunities.
Mentorship, Training & Professional Development
- Facilitate APRN training/professional development sessions on quarterly or as assigned basis.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional guidance to APRNs as requested or indicated.
- 360-degree feedback process and input on competency checklists.
Documentation & Technology Utilization
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
- Promote documentation completion within established organizational timeframes.
- Support the adoption and effective use of clinical technology platforms, including Eleos AI.
- Monitor documentation of metrics and support improvement efforts as needed.
Training Compliance & Regulatory Alignment
- Support compliance with Staff Training and Learning Management System (LMS) requirements.
- Reinforce adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory.
- Participate in audits, reviews, and quality initiatives related to Staff performance and compliance.
Qualifications:
Required
- Current, active Florida licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
- Master's Degree of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution
- National certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Minimum of three (2) years of clinical experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings
- Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and collaboration skills
- Staying compliant on all trainings and immunizations
- Ability to pass Level II DCF Mental Health Fingerprinting (General Information can be found HERE), Drug Screen and Local Criminal Check
Preferred
- Prior experience in lead, supervisory, or clinical coordinator role
- Experience with peer review processes and quality improvement initiatives
- Clinical program implementation and development
- Familiarity with innovative psychiatric treatments such as TMS, MAT and LAI
- Experience in integrated or community behavioral health systems
Physical Requirements: This position requires a mix of physical activities throughout the workday. Duties involve periods of standing, sitting, and walking, often across various areas of the site. The role also includes tasks that may require bending, reaching, and other physical movements. Candidates must be able to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. A reasonable level of physical stamina and mobility is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
